Google’s Pixel Event: Unveiling Pixel 8 Pro, Bard AI, and More in 13 Words

Date:

Google recently announced its plans to integrate Assistant and Bard AI, combining the capabilities of both technologies. During a demo, Google showcased how the Assistant could retrieve details from a party invitation in Gmail and provide directions using Google Maps. Additionally, users can use Bard to create meal plans with grocery lists and export them to Google Docs or Gmail without the need for a keyboard or copy and paste. While no release date has been announced, Google stated that Assistant with Bard will be available soon for Android and iOS devices.

Moving on to the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro, these smartphones bear a resemblance to their predecessors but with a few key differences. The regular Pixel 8 is slightly smaller, making it more manageable for single-handed use. On the other hand, the Pro model boasts a new matte finish, improved cameras, and an intriguing temperature sensor. The Pixel 8 series is powered by Google’s Tensor G3 processor and promises seven years of Android and security updates. The Pro model’s temperature sensor, though some may see it as a gimmick, could potentially offer unique features pending FDA approval.

In other news, Airbnb CEO Brian Chesky revealed the company’s plans to expand beyond its core business. Starting next year, Airbnb aims to focus on long-term rentals, as the majority of bookings currently consist of stays shorter than 30 days. Chesky believes that there is untapped potential in promoting long-term bookings and aims to increase interest in this aspect of the platform. Lastly, Patreon announced a rebranding initiative, offering supporters more ways to engage with their favorite creators and integrating additional free content. Creators now have the option to share content with non-paying members while keeping some exclusive content behind a paywall, enhancing the platform’s versatility.
