In response, Trump promised to reduce energy costs significantly, stating, “I’m going to get your energy down to the lowest it’s been. We’re going to get it down by 50% immediately.” He emphasized that this reduction would particularly benefit businesses by lowering the costs of operating appliances like ovens.
Trump’s campaign has previously proposed reducing energy costs by 50%. Official plans from his campaign involve lifting restrictions on American energy production, ending the Green New Deal, and promoting energy production from various sources, including nuclear power, to decrease inflation.
The conversation also touched on Vice President Kamala Harris’ environmental policies. The Harris-Walz administration aims to address the climate crisis by advancing environmental justice, lowering household energy costs, creating new jobs, and ensuring polluter accountability.
