In a recent update, Google has introduced a new collection of wallpapers titled “Minerals” for its Pixel 8 and 8 Pro smartphones. These wallpapers feature four squarish designs, Calcite and Sphalerite, which come in both light and dark versions. For the Pixel Fold and Tablet, a slightly different version of this collection is available, showcasing the Obsidian and Porcelain color options. The wallpapers, created by photographer Andrew Zuckerman, capture the beauty of various minerals and add a unique touch to the devices’ backgrounds.
Additionally, the Pixel Tablet offers a wider range of options with eight wallpapers: Danburite, Ilvaite, Barite, and Dioptase. These wallpapers are more vibrant and come in widescreen variants. This new collection of minerals complements the existing “Feathers” collection and aligns with Google’s recent efforts to expand its library of default wallpapers. Despite the availability of emoji and generative AI backgrounds, it seems that Google will continue releasing default wallpapers for future Pixel generations.
Google’s decision to regularly introduce new wallpapers reflects its commitment to providing users with a diverse range of customization options. This update follows the addition of more live backgrounds in the Living Universe collection last month. With these ongoing advancements, Google aims to enhance the user experience and make its Pixel devices stand out among competitors. Whether it’s through stunning photography or innovative designs, Google continues to prioritize the creation of visually appealing default wallpapers for its users to enjoy.
