YouTube announced on Wednesday plans to roll out a redesigned user interface for YouTube TV during the upcoming summer. The redesign aims to facilitate easier navigation, improve playback and quality, and provide enhanced access to comments, channel information, and subscription options.
The company did not share extensive details about the redesign. However, they were contacted for a preview of the design assets, and updates will be provided upon receiving a response from YouTube.
Additionally, YouTube revealed several new features for its applications. Among these is the soft launch of an AI-based feature called “Ask Music.” This feature can create a personalized radio station based on users’ descriptions of the music they desire. Currently, this is available only on the iOS and Android platforms for English-speaking YouTube Premium and YouTube Music subscribers in selected countries.
YouTube TV subscribers now have the ability to customize their viewing experience using the multiview feature, which allows simultaneous viewing of up to four streams. Initially limited to sports content, and later expanded to include some non-sports content, users can now start customizing their multiview feeds with a few popular non-sports channels, with more channels expected to be added in the coming months. Previously, users could only select from pre-determined multiview screens chosen by YouTube TV.
Furthermore, YouTube Premium now supports 4x playback speed. For content creators, the company plans to expand access to a feature that enables channel owners to reply to comments on their videos using voice notes.
