The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has announced a recall of thousands of ground coffee packages sold across 15 states due to a labeling error. This recall involves 692 cases of Our Family Foods’ ground coffee bags and was initiated on March 13, with the FDA categorizing the situation as a Class II recall.
The recall specifically affects 4,152 12-ounce packages of Our Family Traverse City Cherry Decaffeinated Ground Coffee. According to the FDA bulletin, the coffee in question may not be decaffeinated, posing a risk to consumers who are attempting to avoid caffeine.
The product recall applies to those labeled “BEST BEFORE 080325 V 15:37 C” and carrying the UPC code 0 70253 11080 1. Class II recalls are issued for products that may lead to temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences, with a low probability of serious health consequences.
The mislabeled coffee was distributed in various states, including Colorado, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, North Carolina, North Dakota, Nebraska, Ohio, South Dakota, Wisconsin, and Wyoming.
