Over recent weeks, T-Mobile (TMUS) has appeared to make efforts to address customer dissatisfaction related to its price increases. Earlier this month, T-Mobile informed customers of an upcoming $5 monthly increase for some older phone plans, effective April 2. This announcement led to a wave of frustration expressed on social media. According to a leaked memo obtained by CNET, the increase is justified by “rising costs over the past several years.” Despite reporting a record-high net income of $11.3 billion last year and adding 3.1 million new postpaid phone customers, the company has faced backlash due to the price adjustments.
To mitigate customer discontent, T-Mobile has begun offering select customers additional free voice lines. Continuing its efforts to retain customers and deter them from switching to competitors, T-Mobile has launched deals aimed at appeasing its customer base. As part of its T-Mobile Tuesdays program, available through the T-Life app, the company introduced an offer allowing customers to purchase a three-piece chicken tender combo from Wingstop for just $0.01.
However, this promotion led to unforeseen consequences, causing long lines at Wingstop locations nationwide, frustrating not only T-Mobile’s customers but also others. Some customers reported waiting two to three hours to receive their orders. The promo, usually redeemable within a 24-hour window, was pulled early by T-Mobile, with users encountering error messages when attempting to access the offer. The abrupt end to the promotion, communicated with a “Sold Out” message, has left many users frustrated, with some labeling the promotion a “scam.”
Customers typically have the option to save limited-time offers on their T-Life accounts for later use, but this privilege was revoked for the Wingstop promotion, further aggravating the situation. In response, T-Mobile issued an apology through an emailed statement to TheStreet, acknowledging the popularity of the offer and expressing regret for any inconvenience caused. The company reaffirmed its commitment to providing a positive customer experience.
