Target to Hire 100,000 Seasonal Workers for Holiday Season

Date:

Target announced its plan to hire 100,000 seasonal employees across its stores and supply chain facilities as the holiday shopping period approaches. This step aims to supplement the company’s existing workforce and its “On Demand” employees who work flexible shifts.

The company is seeking to fill various in-store seasonal roles, including guest advocates, front-of-store attendants, fulfillment experts, general merchandising experts, food and beverage experts, and style consultants. Seasonal supply chain positions are also available to support warehouse operations. Most of the seasonal jobs will be located in Target retail locations, with applications for these positions opening on September 25.

Target’s recent announcement aligns it with other retailers like Aldi and Bath & Body Works, who aim to hire 13,000 and 30,000 seasonal workers, respectively. This year’s seasonal hiring target of 100,000 mirrors Target’s commitments in 2021, 2022, and 2023.

The Minneapolis-based retailer has stated that it will offer its “biggest holiday assortment ever” this year, with deals starting in early October during Target Circle Week. Additionally, a survey by Bankrate revealed that 48% of holiday shoppers plan to start their shopping by Halloween. Despite persistent inflation, Target has reduced prices on 5,000 products.

This survey also indicated that 43% of holiday shoppers anticipate maintaining their spending levels during the 2024 holiday season, while 24% expect to spend more, and 33% plan to reduce their holiday expenditures.
