Ahead of the summer travel season, United Airlines and JetBlue Airways have announced a new partnership that enables customers to earn and use loyalty program points and miles across both airlines. This collaboration, named Blue Sky, aims to provide customers with more flight options and new opportunities to earn and redeem MileagePlus miles and TrueBlue points.
As part of the Blue Sky collaboration, flights from both airlines will be available on each other’s booking platforms. Members of United’s MileagePlus program will be able to accumulate and use miles on most JetBlue flights, while JetBlue’s TrueBlue members will have the ability to do the same on United’s domestic and international network.
Customers can also expect benefits from their loyalty programs when flying with the partner airline. Over time, the airlines plan to introduce similar benefits, reciprocal rewards redemption, and revenue-based miles and points accrual.
Additionally, United will enhance its website and mobile app to sell hotels, rental cars, cruises, and travel insurance using JetBlue’s Paisly platform. Through the Blue Sky partnership, United will utilize JetBlue’s slots at John F. Kennedy International Airport for up to seven daily round-trip flights starting as early as 2027, marking United’s return to JFK after offering flights there between 2021 and 2022.
The partnership will also involve an exchange of eight flight timings at Newark Liberty International Airport. Although parts of the Blue Sky collaboration are expected to launch as early as this fall, both airlines will continue to independently manage and price their networks.
In 2024, JetBlue reported nearly 40.5 million revenue passengers, while United reported approximately 173.6 million.
