In the United States, natural gas turbines are experiencing a backlog extending through 2030. Nuclear facilities are unable to be reactivated before 2035. Additionally, there is a significant backlog of 35,000 permits pending within the bureaucracy for incremental electricity generation. As of December 2024, 90% of the new electricity generation comprised solar and wind resources. This shift towards renewable energy is largely attributed to the availability of Investment Tax Credit (ITC) incentives and the development of credit transfer markets.
