Over the last twenty years, China has expanded its influence and established a stronger presence in Latin America. However, this growing engagement has not been universally positive or beneficial. While China’s involvement has brought certain economic opportunities and investments to the region, it has also raised concerns and challenges. Critics have pointed out potential issues such as increased dependency on Chinese economic activities, potential environmental and social impacts of projects financed by China, and the geopolitical implications of this strengthened relationship. The complexity of China’s role in Latin America highlights a need for careful consideration of both the advantages and drawbacks of this evolving dynamic.
