D.C. facing extreme heat warning with temperatures surpassing 110.

The scorching heat in Washington has reached unprecedented levels, with temperatures soaring to nearly 110 degrees due to a combination of high humidity and extreme heat. The National Weather Service has issued an excessive-heat warning as the city experiences its second-hottest summer on record. Nights have been particularly sultry, with temperatures not dropping below 80 degrees which was once considered exceptionally rare before 2000.

Despite a brief respite in the heat on Friday, the oppressive weather conditions are expected to return over the weekend and intensify in the coming week. Climate change has been cited as a contributing factor to the extreme heat in the D.C. area, with projections indicating a further increase in temperatures in the future. The summer of 2021 is on track to be one of the hottest on record, with high temperatures and steamy nights becoming the norm in Washington.
