Poppers, a substance historically favored at parties by the gay community, recently gained national attention when Double Scorpio, a producer of these products, reported that they had ceased operations following an alleged search and seizure by the FDA. Although the FDA has not released an official statement confirming this raid, the rumors of such an action against a product predominantly used by the queer community have generated significant interest and concern.
Brittany was joined in a discussion by Selena Simmons-Duffin, NPR’s health policy correspondent, and Alex Abad-Santos, a Senior Correspondent at Vox. They explored the FDA’s ongoing concerns regarding poppers, which predate the current administration, and addressed a conspiracy theory that has evoked memories of the 1980s for some gay men.
