Audrey Hepburn’s former villa in Switzerland is now available for purchase. Known as La Paisible, which translates to “the peaceful” in French, this residence is situated on 40 acres of land near Lake Geneva in the Tolochenaz, Vaud region of Switzerland. Currently listed by the British real estate company Knight Frank, the nearly 11,000-square-foot house is on the market for $21 million. The property offers 12 bedrooms, eight bathrooms, and a two-bedroom service apartment, among other amenities.
Built in the 18th century, Audrey Hepburn first acquired the villa in 1963 and lived there for 30 years until her passing due to cancer at the age of 63. According to Bloomberg, her sons Sean Hepburn Ferrer and Luca Dotti sold the property in 2001 to Katharina Beaujolin and her husband, Jean-Marc Beaujolin, current chairman of ECH Ltd.
The Beaujolins made minor renovations to the villa, which included relocating and modernizing the kitchen, updating the bathrooms and electrical systems, and adding more guest bedrooms. Despite these changes, Hepburn’s presence remains tangible, with a plaque in her honor on the exterior that draws tourists. Katharina noted the public’s continued interest in Hepburn’s legacy, expressing that it is “actually quite touching how much she meant to people.”
The villa features extensive grounds filled with centuries-old trees. A rose garden partially planted by Hepburn herself remains, commemorating her 60th birthday. The property provides multiple entrances, extensive landscaping, and a wood-lined path to the front door.
Inside, one of the 21 rooms—a spacious living room on the main floor—features a wood-burning fireplace, built-in bookshelves, and several large windows. The adjacent sitting room has black-and-white tiled flooring and opens to the yard. The home also includes a well-equipped library, modern kitchen, guest bedrooms, and a primary suite on the upper levels, accessible by staircases and an elevator.
The home’s loft area, with brick flooring, wood-paneled ceilings, and a pool table, serves as an ideal space for entertaining. Outdoor seating areas surround the home, complemented by dining and lounge furniture that allow for enjoyment of the lush grounds. The property also includes a private 16,000-square-foot park with a heated swimming pool and parking for 15 cars.
Katharina expressed that the villa is a wonderful space for gatherings, having hosted her sons’ weddings there. The estate continues to be a popular attraction for its historical association with the beloved film icon Audrey Hepburn.
