Moscow: In the days leading up to the BRICS Summit in Russia, President Vladimir Putin emphasized on Friday that the BRICS alliance is not “anti-West,” but rather “non-West,” aligning with member state India’s position. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Russia on October 22-23 for the 16th BRICS Summit in Kazan.
In a discussion with a group of foreign journalists, Putin stated that BRICS remains open to new members. He noted that as the grouping expands, even non-member countries stand to gain economically.
Putin also accused the United States of attempting to hinder development in China, likening such efforts to trying to prevent the sun from rising.
When questioned about a potential timeline for the conclusion of the conflict in Ukraine, Putin indicated that establishing one would be difficult and counterproductive, asserting that Russia would ultimately succeed.
