Qatar has made a significant purchase from Boeing, agreeing to buy up to 210 aircraft. This agreement was described by U.S. President Donald Trump as the largest jet order in Boeing’s history during his visit to the Gulf nation.
The White House released information about economic agreements surpassing $243 billion as Qatar engaged with Trump’s “America First” investment strategy. During his tour of the Gulf, the President focused on generating notable business deals.
Qatar Airways, the national airline owned by the state, confirmed a $96 billion transaction to acquire up to 210 Boeing 787 Dreamliner and 777X aircraft. According to the White House, this is Boeing’s largest-ever order for wide-body planes.
During a signing event with Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, the Emir of Qatar, Trump congratulated Boeing, urging the commencement of production. He expressed gratitude towards Sheikh Tamim, highlighting a long-standing friendship.
Boeing’s stock increased by 2.3 percent following the announcement. It is noted that airlines typically receive discounts from the listed prices of aircraft.
The White House also mentioned that additional significant agreements have been established in sectors such as defense, energy, and technology.
