Trump Store Unveils 2028 Merch: ‘Rewrite the Rules’ Sparks Controversy

The Trump Organization has made headlines with its latest merchandise offering. The official Trump Store, an online retailer, introduced a red “Trump 2028” hat priced at $50, made in the United States. This high-crown cap features full embroidery and a snap closure, encouraging supporters to “make a statement.” The product has generated significant online conversation.

This release coincides with President Donald Trump, currently in his second term, suggesting the possibility of continuing his presidential legacy beyond 2028. In a March interview with NBC News, Trump remarked, “No, I’m not joking,” sparking both support and concern. He mentioned there are “methods” to achieve this.

Nevertheless, the 22nd Amendment prohibits any U.S. president from serving more than two terms. Despite this, the Trump Store is capitalizing on the excitement with additional products like a “Trump 2028” t-shirt featuring the slogan “Rewrite the Rules,” garnering reactions across the political spectrum.

Eric Trump, the president’s son and Executive Vice President of the Trump Organization, promoted the new merchandise by sharing a photo of himself wearing the hat on social media. The post received varied responses, including a note from the crypto betting platform Polymarket and other mixed comments.

While some critics argue that the messaging could threaten the democratic norm of term limits, others view it as characteristic Trumpian boldness combined with clever merchandising. Historically, only Franklin D. Roosevelt has served more than two terms, before the 22nd Amendment was adopted in 1951.

The Trump Organization does not disclose much about its internal operations, typical of private companies. Eric and Donald Trump Jr. are listed as Executive Vice Presidents, with President Trump absent from any active role.

The “Make America Great Again” (MAGA) hat, introduced during Trump’s 2016 campaign, has become a symbol of his political movement. These hats are officially manufactured in the U.S. by Cali-Fame, debunking claims of production in China.

The Trump Store has significantly expanded its merchandise offerings, launching at least 168 new products during the transition between Election Day and Inauguration Day. Among these is the “45-47” MAGA hat, celebrating Trump’s two presidencies with specific embroidery.

While FOX Business sought comments on the new merchandise from the White House, they were directed to the Trump Organization, which did not immediately respond.
