The United States Postal Service (USPS) is commemorating the 250th anniversary of the original branches of the U.S. military by releasing special edition stamps. These stamps will feature the seals of the Army, Marine Corps, or Navy, accompanied by inscriptions reading “250 Years of Service,” “Since 1775,” and “Forever/USA.”
Jeffery Adams, Vice President of USPS Corporate Communications, stated that this milestone celebrates the courage and commitment of the military, highlighting their vital role in protecting national freedoms. Various military representatives attended the unveiling ceremony, underscoring the Postal Service’s tribute to military personnel.
Army Lt. Gen. Gregory J. Brady expressed that the stamps will positively influence troop morale, emphasizing the important connection between mail delivery and military history. Navy Vice Adm. Michael Boyle praised USPS for consistently delivering mail across global seas, while Marine Corps Lt. Gen. Paul J. Rock Jr. reflected on the cherished memories facilitated by mailed correspondence during deployments.
The commemorative stamps will be available in sheets of 20, priced at $14.60, retaining the value of a First-Class Mail 1-ounce stamp. USPS also offers additional commemorative stamps featuring various cultural icons.
