A recent report indicates that the AI startup Anthropic is developing voice capabilities for its AI-powered chatbot, Claude. The company’s Chief Product Officer, Mike Krieger, shared with the Financial Times that Anthropic intends to introduce experiences enabling users to interact with its AI models through voice communication.
Krieger explained, “We are working on evolving Claude for desktop applications. If it’s going to operate a computer, a more natural user interface might involve speaking to it.” He further mentioned, “We will implement voice technology internally; it is a valuable modality to incorporate. We have developed prototypes.”
Additionally, the report highlights that Anthropic has engaged in discussions with Amazon, its primary investor and partner, as well as with ElevenLabs, a voice-focused AI startup. These discussions aim to potentially advance voice features for Claude, though no agreements have been reached as per the Financial Times.
Krieger also stated to the publication that Anthropic is in conversation with various partners to expedite the launch of a voice-enabled experience.
