According to internal data revealed in Google’s ongoing antitrust case, Gemini, Google’s AI chatbot, had reached 350 million monthly active users worldwide as of March. The Information initially reported this statistic.
There has been a significant increase in the usage of Google’s AI services over the past year. In October 2024, Gemini recorded only 9 million daily active users, yet the company reportedly observed 35 million daily active users last month, based on its data.
Despite this growth, Gemini still trails behind the industry’s leading AI tools. Google projected that ChatGPT had approximately 600 million monthly active users in March, based on company data presented in court. This figure places ChatGPT on a comparable user base to Meta AI, which CEO Mark Zuckerberg indicated in September was approaching 500 million monthly users.
While companies might calculate monthly active users (MAUs) differently, these figures highlight the extent of Gemini’s consumer adoption. Over the past year, Google has expanded Gemini’s reach to millions of users through AI integrations with Samsung phones, Google Workspace applications, and Chrome.
