More than a week has passed since viewers experienced the intense developments in the second episode of “The Last of Us” Season 2. The audience remains affected by the events — especially gamers, for whom it was a revisiting of past emotions.
Gabriel Luna, who portrays Tommy, brother to Joel (played by Pedro Pascal), discussed on “Late Night with Seth Meyers” the changes in dynamics both on the show and behind the scenes, as the cast prepared for the inevitable storyline shifts.
“I was aware early in the second game of the sudden departure of a beloved character, significant to both my character, Tommy, and to me personally as Gabriel,” Luna stated during the interview.
He added, “Everyone had to brace for this transition. Such events alter family dynamics, much like what occurred on our set, largely because Pedro, who is remarkable and talented, led with grace. We all felt the transition as the responsibility moved to Bella Ramsey, Kaitlyn Dever, and myself.”
Seth Meyers responded, “I’ll share another perspective: I believe he received what was due.”
New episodes of “The Last of Us” Season 2 are broadcast on HBO and Max Sundays at 9 p.m. ET.
