In response to a problem that was preventing players from receiving the correct rewards at the end of missions, Helldivers 2 is awarding all players a 50 per cent XP and requisition bonus. This is intended to compensate players for the issue while the team works on a fix. The bonus will be active until the end of Sunday, allowing players to earn additional XP on top of the base mission score. The game director, Sagar, explained that the team wanted to alleviate the impact of the issue as players dive into the action over the weekend. The bonus can be identified by the “Accounting Corrections” Game Master Effect label while on the Super Destroyer.
Last week, the game’s creative director and Arrowhead CEO, Johan Pilestedt, expressed the belief that games should “earn the right to monetize.” This sentiment was shared in response to a tweet from a player pointing out that super credits can be earned just by playing the game. Pilestedt emphasized that while players are welcome to support the title with DLC and microtransactions, Arrowhead is not forcing anyone to do so. Helldivers 2 has also achieved a significant milestone as it is now Playstation’s biggest Steam launch, surpassing almost 300,000 concurrent users on the PC platform.
