Although the primary focus of the Star Wars Celebration is the film and TV segments of the franchise, Lucasfilm Publishing has nurtured a dedicated fan base through its tie-in novels, including the High Republic initiative. This initiative, which began in January 2021, is set to conclude soon with the release of the final book in its third phase, Charles Soule’s “Trials of the Jedi,” in June.
At Lucasfilm Publishing’s Star Wars Celebration panel, titled “Stories From a Galaxy Far, Far Away,” insights into future releases were shared. The Tokyo panel provided information on upcoming publications stretching from the prequel trilogy to the sequel trilogy, including news about the conclusion of The High Republic series. Present at the event were Adam Christopher, Tessa Gratton, Marc Guggenheim, Lydia Kang, Ethan Sacks, Phil Szostak, Alyssa Wong, and Marvel’s C.B. Cebulski.
Among the most notable announcements was the release of a visual book: an art book centered on the “Andor” series. According to the official press release, “The Art of Star Wars: Andor (The Complete Series)” will offer fans a look behind the scenes of the acclaimed Disney+ series set during the early days of the Rebellion. The series chronicles the transformation of Cassian Andor, from a thief to a rebel spy. This publication will include interviews with showrunner Tony Gilroy and the Lucasfilm art department, along with hundreds of design visuals and storyboards to provide an in-depth exploration of the creative process behind the series. However, “The Art of Star Wars: Andor” will be priced at $50 and is scheduled for release in March 2026.
The panel also revisited the final High Republic book, “Trials of the Jedi,” and announced other new titles. These include comics such as “Star Wars: The High Republic – The Battle of Eriadu” and “Star Wars: The High Republic – The Beacon,” the Padawan adventure “The Acolyte: The Crystal Crown,” another art book titled “Industrial Light & Magic: 50 Years of Innovation,” and new comics like “Star Wars: Hyperspace Stories – Codebreaker,” aimed at Poe Dameron fans, alongside upcoming issues of “Star Wars: Legacy of Vader” and “Star Wars: Jedi Knights.”
Prior to the panel, Lucasfilm Publishing had revealed early news regarding forthcoming releases. These entail Adam Christopher’s novel “Star Wars: Master of Evil,” featuring Darth Vader, a lavish two-volume art book “Doug Chiang: The Cinematic Legacy and the Star Wars Legacy,” a Halloween-themed book titled “Star Wars: I Find Your Lack of Candy Disturbing,” with Jeffrey Brown’s illustrations, and in-depth Disney+ explorations “The Art of Star Wars: The Acolyte” and “The Acolyte Visual Guide.” Additionally, updated new editions of “Star Wars: The Blueprints” and “Star Wars: Women of the Galaxy” were announced.
Moreover, another panel, “Manga Mania!” highlighted Lucasfilm Publishing’s upcoming manga projects. These include a Kickstarter campaign for a two-volume “The Art of Star Wars: A New Hope—The Manga,” manga adaptations of “Star Wars: Thrawn” and “Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order,” and the Jedi narrative “Star Wars: Path of the Lightsaber.”
