Three years ago, a group of TikTok content creators became part of NBCUniversal’s initiative to transform social media influencers into television show creators.
Currently, four of these individuals are preparing to launch their original series on Peacock.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the series slated to premiere include “The Warehouse Phase,” developed by Charlie Curtis-Beard; “The Kouncil,” created by Katie Florence; “Older Hotter Wiser” by Serena Kerrigan; and “People Like Me” by Daren Vongirdner.
These shows will debut on May 19.
Social media has increasingly provided opportunities for young, emerging creators in Hollywood, with TikTok often dubbed the “new TV.” One recent TikTok star to secure a television role is Boman Martinez-Reid, known for his comedic impersonations of the Kardashians. Another popular series on TikTok, “Group Chat,” brought its creator to the “Today Show.”
