Picard’s Iconic Tea Cup Returns After Years of Discontinuation

Date:

Master Replicas has announced the release of a new "Picard Cup" that faithfully replicates the design used in Star Trek: The Next Generation (TNG), Voyager, and Star Trek: Picard. This release comes almost a decade after the real-world mug highlighted in TNG was discontinued. The collaboration with Bodum, the original homeware company that supplied these mugs, ensures that fans can once again purchase them.

The particular mug in question, part of Bodum’s BISTRO system designed in 1974 by Carsten Jørgensen, had gained popularity for both its sleek, retro-futuristic design and its association with Star Trek. Despite being discontinued in 2016, it is now set to make a comeback.

Bodum and Master Replicas will release the mug design in a limited run of packs containing four mugs. These will replicate the original glass and plastic design but will feature logos of Star Trek, Bodum, and Master Replicas etched on the bases. These mugs are priced at $55 for a set of four and are currently available for pre-order, with an expected release date in February 2025.
