Samsung officially unveiled the Galaxy S25 Edge, a sleek smartphone previously teased during its January Unpacked event. At the recent Unpacked event, detailed specifications, pricing, and shipping dates for the new device were revealed, and attendees had the opportunity to experience the handset firsthand.
The Galaxy S25 Edge is priced at $1,100 for the 256GB variant and $1,220 for the 512GB model, with shipments beginning on May 30. Pre-orders are available through retailers such as Amazon, Best Buy, and directly from Samsung, which provides a $50 pre-order store credit and a complimentary upgrade to the 512GB model.
The phone is particularly notable for its slim design and AI-enhanced photography capabilities, verified by Samsung’s recent press release. Engadget’s Mat Smith noted the device’s lightweight feel and premium build upon handling it.
Regarding specifications, the Galaxy S25 Edge features a 6.7-inch display and is only 5.8mm thick. Although its screen is slightly smaller than the 6.9-inch Ultra model, it is significantly thinner by 2.4mm. Weighing 163 grams, the Edge is comparable in weight to the standard S25, but is more than 10mm taller and 5mm wider than the base model.
The phone achieves its reduced thickness partly due to a newly developed vapor chamber and Thermal Interface Material for improved heat dissipation. It is the first device to feature Corning Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2 on the display, which promises better drop protection with a slimmer glass layer. The frame is constructed from titanium, aligning with the materials used in the Ultra model.
Camera-wise, the Edge incorporates a 200MP sensor, similar to the S25 Ultra, with Samsung stating it captures 40 percent brighter images in low-light conditions. Additionally, the phone includes a 12MP ultra-wide lens and a 12MP front-facing camera. While the rear cameras are slightly raised from the phone’s body, the device maintains good balance.
The smartphone supports several AI features, including Pro Scaler, Audio Eraser, and Drawing Assist, powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite chip. It includes 12GB of RAM and offers either 256GB or 512GB of storage. The 3,900mAh battery is smaller than the batteries in other S25 models, but Samsung claims it can last up to 24 hours on a single charge.
The Galaxy S25 Edge is available in Titanium Silver, Titanium Jet Black, and Titanium Icy Blue, with Samsung offering seven years of security and software updates. A comprehensive review of the phone will be released soon.
