Square Enix has released a free demo for Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth on PlayStation 5, allowing players to experience the first full chapter of the game. The demo is split into two parts, with the first part available now and the second part to be added later in an update. It provides an opportunity to play as hero Cloud and antagonist Sephiroth in an early flashback section called “the Nibelheim episode,” which serves as a brilliant jumping-on point for the Final Fantasy 7 story. Additionally, the second part of the demo gives players a taste of combat and exploration in a more open setting, with the opportunity to form a party of three and hunt down monsters before facing a boss.
The demo features sections from across Rebirth, offering players a glimpse into the game’s structure and features, including side quests and minigames that contribute to the colorful and expansive adventure. However, progression in the demo will not carry over to the full game upon its release. After the initial chapter, players can look forward to exploring the picturesque town of Kalm and engaging in activities such as the collectible card game Queen’s Blood. This demo serves as a promising preview of what Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth has to offer, giving players a taste of the gameplay and the immersive world they can expect to explore upon the game’s release on Feb. 29 for the PlayStation 5.
