Adult Swim has yet to announce the exact release date for season eight of Rick and Morty, but notable news emerged during the New York Comic Con panel for the popular animated sci-fi series. The show is confirmed to continue past season 10, with seasons 11 and 12 in the works, ensuring its presence until at least 2029. The panel, which included co-creator Dan Harmon and the cast, expressed their desire for the series to continue for "100 years."
Harmon, speaking at the convention, assured fans that the series would extend its run, while an oft-quoted remark from Rick affirmed hopes for its prolonged continuation. Currently, season eight is expected to premiere sometime in 2025, and Adult Swim provided a sneak peek with an animatic. The preview featured Rick and Morty, voiced by Ian Cardoni and Harry Belden, discovering a cryo-ship in deep space, leading to events driven by curiosity, Rick’s greed, and resulting chaos.
The principal cast also includes Chris Parnell as Jerry, Sarah Chalke as Beth, and Spencer Grammer as Summer. In a statement to Deadline, Harmon and executive producer Scott Marder conveyed their enthusiasm for the show’s future. Harmon expressed relief that the universe would continue to include Rick and Morty, with infinite possibilities ahead. Marder shared his pride in guiding the series since its fourth season and his eagerness to deliver more episodes to the fans, echoing the sentiment for an enduring series.
