Sasheer Zamata Discusses Her Role as Agatha All Along’s Final Girl

Date:

The series “Agatha All Along” concluded this week. While the series primarily centered on Agatha, Billy, and Rio, Sasheer Zamata’s character, Jen Kale, emerged as a notable figure. Jen, portrayed as a potions expert, reluctantly joins the antihero’s coven. Their journey along the Witches Road is driven by the prospect of fulfilling their deepest desires, with Jen specifically seeking to reclaim the powers she lost a century ago.

In an interview with Collider, Zamata discussed Jen Kale’s journey to regain her powers, emphasizing the moral dynamic between Jen and Agatha. Jen is described as a “righteous person” who values knowledge and seeks to help others, a trait still intact despite losing her powers. Zamata noted that this fundamental personality difference is the source of tension between the two witches, rather than any particular incident. According to Zamata, Jen’s nature as a know-it-all who prides herself on healing and assisting others may irk Agatha, who is not inclined to help people.

Despite these differences, Jen’s desire for power remains strong. By the end of “Agatha All Along,” Jen successfully achieves her goal and remains alive. Zamata expressed gratitude towards Kathryn Hahn and director Gandja Monteiro for allowing Jen to have her moment of triumph in the series. Zamata appreciated the opportunity to explore that aspect of her character, likening the experience to reuniting with a long-lost friend after 100 years.

Fans of the comics are aware that Jen Kale eventually becomes the Witch Woman and is a cousin of the original Ghost Rider, Johnny Blaze. When questioned about potentially returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), Zamata admitted she had no concrete information but expressed enthusiasm for exploring Jen’s future, whether by joining a new coven or dedicating her life to healing. Zamata conveyed her affection for playing Jen and expressed interest in seeing her utilize her regained powers. Outside of Marvel, Zamata remains open to various roles, including action and horror projects.

“Agatha All Along” is now fully available for streaming on Disney+.
