Miles Morales is set to return to the big screen, although audiences will have to wait longer than initially expected. “Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse,” the third installment in Sony’s acclaimed animated series, was previously scheduled for a 2024 release but was subsequently removed from the schedule following the release of its predecessor, “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.” The film is now confirmed to be released on June 4, 2027.
This announcement was made at the conclusion of a teaser trailer presented at CinemaCon 2025. The teaser featured a dynamic mix of colors and shapes reminiscent of “2001: A Space Odyssey,” showcasing images and dialogue from the first two films. Towards the end, brief clips from the upcoming film were shown, including scenes of Miles battling the Prowler and the Spot, and entering a pitch-black area through a yellow portal.
The first images from the film, beyond the initial teaser visuals, have been released by Sony Animation.
Producer Phil Lord, along with directors Bob Persichetti and Justin K. Thompson, stated that “Beyond” will be more expansive and ambitious than the previous films. It will introduce new styles and innovations, continuing immediately from where the last film ended.
The team emphasized that the delay in release was justified by the scope and complexity of the new project.
