The opening day of Star Wars Celebration Japan generated significant excitement not only for movies, TV shows, and collectibles but also for gamers. This anticipation was fueled by the reveal trailer for “A Pirate’s Fortune,” the second DLC story pack for Ubisoft’s action-adventure game “Star Wars Outlaws.”
The trailer begins with Kay Vess, the game’s primary character, and her companion, Nix, finding themselves in a jail cell. Although their situation appears grim, their adventure quickly takes an exciting turn. Kay forms an alliance with a pirate named Hondo Ohnaka, who reveals he is currently without a crew. Together, they embark on a mission to locate a hidden treasure within a tomb in the Khepi system. Their quest, however, is complicated by the need to confront Stinger Tash and her fierce Rokana Raiders.
According to Ubisoft’s official website, “A Pirate’s Fortune” not only offers a new adventure with Kay but also introduces cosmetic items inspired by the Disney+ series “Skeleton Crew.” In addition to the campaign, the update provides players with items such as a special outfit for Nix, a trophy for Kay’s speeder, and a trinket for both her speeder and her ship, the Trailblazer. Players can also earn new rewards by participating in dangerous smuggling missions throughout the galaxy via the Miyuki Trade League.
The announcement for “Star Wars Outlaws: A Pirate’s Fortune” also included news about its release date for the Nintendo Switch 2. Although the game is not part of the launch lineup for the console when it debuts on June 5, Ubisoft confirmed its arrival on September 4. Meanwhile, the new content will become available on Xbox, PlayStation 5, and PC on May 15.
In io9’s review of “Outlaws,” the publication praised the game, noting that it establishes a high standard for Star Wars games, characterized by a mix of charm and audacity. This review highlights the game’s appeal and its alignment with the adventurous spirit of the Star Wars universe.
