The latest UK physical game sales charts have revealed a surprising mix of titles, with Nintendo’s most recent releases failing to claim the top spots. Instead, the newly-released Switch port of “Hogwarts Legacy” took first place, with 70% of the total sales in the last week. “Super Mario RPG” missed out on a podium spot and landed in sixth place for its first chart appearance, just below “Mario Wonder”. The rest of the chart features a variety of titles, with “Bluey: The Videogame” making its debut in seventh place, largely thanks to the Nintendo Switch.
The top ten also includes titles such as “Assassin’s Creed Mirage”, “Nintendo Switch Sports”, and “Mortal Kombat 1”. Notably absent from the top ten are perennial favorites like “Mario Kart 8 Deluxe”, “Minecraft”, and “Animal Crossing: New Horizons”. This shift in rankings may be attributed to Black Friday deals and new releases, as well as the increasing popularity of the Nintendo Switch. Despite the absence of some familiar titles, the diverse mix of games in the top 40 reflects the evolving gaming landscape and the ongoing appeal of a wide range of gaming experiences.
As the holiday season approaches, it will be interesting to see how the charts continue to change and which games will gain momentum as consumers seek out new and engaging titles for their gaming enjoyment.
