Universal and Blumhouse’s film “Wolf Man,” directed by Leigh Whannell, was released in theaters in January and is set to stream exclusively on Peacock starting Friday, April 18. The film, which has been available for rent or purchase on Apple TV and Prime Video since February, features Christopher Abbott and Julia Garner as a couple traveling to Abbott’s character Blake’s childhood home in Oregon with their daughter. After Blake is scratched in an animal attack, the family must fortify themselves inside the house to evade the external threat and Blake’s transformation into a dangerous being.
The reception for “Wolf Man” was mixed, unlike Whannell’s 2020 reboot of “Invisible Man.” Although the trailers garnered positive attention, some of the film’s marketing strategies were unconventional. Universal released a preview clip showcasing Blake’s transformation, which occurs late in the film, before its premiere. Additionally, the creature’s design was displayed during last year’s Halloween Horror Nights. These factors might have influenced the film’s box office performance, which totaled $34.9 million, leading to its early availability on PVOD. For those who have not yet seen the film, its arrival on Peacock presents an opportunity to explore it further.
