The Teal Mask DLC for Pokemon Scarlet & Violet has brought back some older Bug-type Pokemon, including Volbeat from Generation 3. The DLC is set in the land of Kitakami, inspired by rural Japanese settings, where Bug-type Pokemon are commonly found. Illumise, Volbeat’s counterpart, can also be found in Kitakami, though it is not considered a rare spawn and can be encountered fairly quickly at night. Illumise does not have a new evolution in the DLC and its stats are not particularly impressive for battle.
To find Illumise in the Teal Mask DLC, players must switch the time to night in Kitakami, which can be done after completing the main questline. Illumise spawns in various areas at night, including Kitakami Road, Apple Hills, Mossfell Confluence, and Timeless Woods. However, catching Illumise may not be necessary unless players want to register it in their Pokedex, as it lacks strong stats and does not evolve.
In battle, Illumise’s stats are lackluster, with a base stat total of 430. Its base Special Attack stat and Speed are decent, but it may struggle to hold its own against stronger opponents. Overall, finding and catching Illumise in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet may not be a high priority, but it could still be a completionist’s goal or a fun addition to a Bug-type Pokemon collection.
