Linda Yaccarino, CEO, Confirms Decline in ‘X’ Daily Active Users

Linda Yaccarino, the CEO of X (formerly Twitter), revealed in an interview at Vox Media’s Code 2023 event that the platform has been losing daily active users since Elon Musk took over. Yaccarino disclosed that X currently has 225 million daily active users, which is a decline of 11.6% or tens of millions of users since Musk acquired the company. Last year, Musk had shared a tweet indicating that Twitter had 254.5 million daily active users before his takeover. However, according to The Information, X revised its count to 245 million daily active users. Mashable also reported that X is losing around 3.7% of its daily active users from before Musk’s acquisition.

Yaccarino attempted to divert the conversation away from user metrics during the interview by stating that X had 200 to 250 million daily active users and highlighting the platform’s 50,000 communities and improved engagement numbers. She also disclosed that X currently has 550 million monthly active users, but it remains unclear how much growth has occurred under Musk’s leadership in terms of monthly active users.

Despite the declining user numbers, Yaccarino expressed optimism about X’s future profitability. She stated that X will turn a profit in early 2024, claiming that 90% of the top 100 advertisers have returned to the platform in the last 12 weeks alone.

In conclusion, Linda Yaccarino, the CEO of X, revealed in an interview that the platform has experienced a decline in daily active users since Elon Musk took over. Despite the decrease, Yaccarino remains positive about X’s prospects for profitability and highlighted the return of major advertisers to the platform.
